Peter Farrington: Guest Post

Through a series of guest posts, I am exploring Nature Connection and how different people experience and connect with the natural world.

In this post, Peter Farrington, a photographer, will share his experiences and how they inspire his incredible nature photography.

I really enjoy photography, and it has been a hobby of mine for a long time.

I particularly like to photograph penguins and other creatures in the Falklands, as I find it very relaxing. I enjoy the sound of the ocean and seeing the penguins and other animals in their natural habitat.

Penguins are amazing birds; they live in large groups and look after one another. I really like the way they waddle and huddle up together.

They are curious birds and love to know what is going on, so when they realise you will not harm them, they will come right up to you.

As well as penguins, I like to photograph whales, sea lions, elephant seals, leopard seals, dolphins and Patagonian Foxes.

I feel lucky that I can travel to places like the Falklands, as I realise not everyone can travel so far. Taking photos is important because it allows me to share my experience and love of nature with others.

You do not have to go far to see some of the fantastic wildlife, though or have a big camera. Lots of people use their camera phones or draw pictures.

Can you think of creatures that live near you that are exciting? What are the different ways you can show people what you have found?
